Movies! In progress...

18. Watch 25 movies I have never seen before

1) In The Loop
Political staffers. In England. Who could ask for more?
2) The Young Victoria
I know. More Britishness. But hey- it's my list! Long live this theme!
3) Friends With Kids
Slightly depressing. And by slightly, I mean this movie is pretty effective birth control.
4) The Change-Up
I was torn between being very amused and very offended. In fact, I am still torn.

6. Visit Québec City- Easter weekend

I have very been super negligent with posting my progress, but some has been made. D and I enjoyed a completely wonderful weekend in Québec City over Easter weekend. Despite terrible weather, it was a weekend of snoozing, eating, and a newfound appreciation of stone masonry (for D).

I still can't believe such old world, European awesomeness is only a four hour train ride away from real life. Strolling cobblestone streets and navigating through centuries old buildings is a delight usual only rewarded after a transatlantic flight and several thousands of dollars spent. Being no great fan of Montréal (I know, I know) I tried to go in with a completely open mind to QC. My expectations were handily surpassed. And then some.

Our view from afternoon drinks in our hotel...
... which was a castle. As seen here from the Citadel
Aside from the history and the architecture, there was some serious eating to be done. In keeping with regional delights, I indulged in steak frites, french onion soup, crèpes, and macaroons (eaten in bed, like I am Marie freakin Antoinette)

All day long I dream about steak frites
The definition of "spoiled"

After a particularly rough stretch at work, this holiday was so appreciated. I couldn't have asked for a
more relaxing, interesting, and delicious weekend with my lovely D.

À bientôt!

Partying like a (Canadian) rockstar!

13. Attend an awards show

On April 1st, 2012, I was able to cross off my first list item when I went to the Juno Awards! It's also very fitting that I went with Lindsay. After all, this whole list was inspired by her "30 Things To Do While I'm 30" adventure last year. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery :)

Pumped!

Not every single item on my list is something I have never done before, and attending the Juno Awards is one of them. I went in Edmonton in 2004. However, there are some considerable differences between the two events. Firstly, I didn't get to drink beer the first time (thanks again to Lindsay for my ridiculously overpriced Heineken tallboy!!) Secondly, this Juno Awards was extra special, because it included the induction of Blue Rodeo in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Jim Cuddy, how much I love you...

Not remembering much from 2004, I think I was expecting something a lot more... Canadian. No muss, no fuss, no spectacle. I am happy to report that I was wrong! Gone are the days of Jann Arden and Bryan Adams. The whole thing was fiery (literally) and awesome. A good start to what will hopefully be a good list!!
